The 7.3 m (24 ft) Strider is the most popular trailable catamaran from Richard Woods of Woods Designs. Round-bilge hulls are cold moulded or strip planked in cedar, with plywood decks. Beam 4.3 m, about 500 kg empty, 25 sq m of sail, four berths, and light enough to tow on a telescopic trailer behind a 1,600 cc car. Striders have raced offshore, and a Turbo version with 5.3 m beam and 34 sq m rig exists for experienced crews.
Dick Newick, reviewing it in WoodenBoat, expected builders to have little grief. Woods's minimum is 550 hours to a basic fit out ready to paint for a practised builder, so budget 800 to 1,200 first time. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
