Romany

A 10.4 m (34 ft) offshore cruising catamaran with a central cuddy by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, a larger Gypsy with much bigger hulls that hold true double berths and a shower. Hulls are hard-chine plywood or round-bilge strip plank, decks plywood, with daggerboards or low aspect ratio keels. Beam 6.2 m, about 2.5 tonnes empty, 55.3 sq m of sail, 1.9 m headroom. Woods owned a home-built Romany from 2008 to 2010 and cruised it in the Bahamas.
The cuddy, cockpit and interior are the same whichever hull is chosen. Woods's minimum is 2,500 hours to a basic fit out ready to paint for a practised builder, so budget 3,500 to 5,000 first time. Real hours from logged builds are below.
