Angler's Trip
Designed by Ashes Still Water Boats
The tandem tripper in the Angler's series, 16 ft 6 in by 36 in, built on the same Bob's Special pedigree as the smaller Angler's boats. A shallow arch bottom makes her steady for fishing, photography and family outings with children or dogs who shift their weight without warning, and Ashes reckons she will hold a week's gear for two. Her low ends and modest freeboard keep her out of the wind and lighter than a Prospector style canoe of similar displacement.
As with the Angler's Day, the builder can pull the gunwales in either with recurved tumblehome or with a hard chine; the chined version is marginally stiffer, and the hull below the waterline is identical. Ashes is clear about the trade-off: if covering miles matters more than stability, the asymmetric Tandem Day or Tandem Trip is the better pick. Cedar strip throughout, with full size patterns and no written assembly instructions.
What building a Angler's Trip actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
