Solo Quick
Designed by Ashes Still Water Boats
Long and narrow for a canoe, the Solo Quick is 16 ft 6 in by 26 in with fine entry and exit lines, drawn as an all day cruiser that sits somewhere between a solo canoe and a kayak. Ashes says that with a double blade she eats up distance and with a single blade she is more responsive than her numbers suggest. She will carry a modest load, but speed and glide come first.
She belongs on protected water. For swell or current Ashes points paddlers to the Solo Trip or Angler's Day, which have more freeboard. Construction is the standard Ashes cedar strip build, 1/4 in strips with hardwood or laminated softwood gunwales, and the plans include a materials list and strongback drawing but no assembly instructions, so a first time builder will want a strip canoe manual alongside them.
What building a Solo Quick actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
