Cocktail Class Racer
Designed by Charles MacGregor
An 8 ft outboard racing boat, originally the Skua, drawn by Charles MacGregor and published in The Rudder in 1939. The Cocktail Class Wooden Boat Racing Association revived it in 2008, and most boats race with the class 6 hp outboard, with an 8 hp class too. Chesapeake Light Craft has sold a class-legal kit since 2011, converted to stitch-and-glue with help from Farr Yacht Design. It is 48 in wide and about 72 lb. Plans are also sold.
CLC grades it a beginner build with a manual of nearly 400 photos and drawings, and estimates 80 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Cocktail Class Racer actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
