Passagemaker Standard
Designed by John C. Harris
The one-piece version of the Passagemaker, an 11 ft 7 in Norwegian-style pram by John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft, sold as plans and kits. Meant as a yacht tender that also sails properly, it weighs about 90 lb yet carries 650 lb, rows with a long glide, and takes a short-shaft outboard of 2 to 4 hp on its 15 in transom. Beam is 56 in. Rig options are a 62 sq ft lug or a 78 sq ft gunter sloop, with all spars short enough to stow inside the boat.
Construction is CLC's LapStitch stitched lapstrake plywood. CLC rates it a beginner project and says to budget 110 to 120 hours for the sailing version. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Passagemaker Standard actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
