Bella 12
Designed by Sam Devlin
An 11 ft 7 in rowing skiff by Sam Devlin, the middle boat of his three Bella skiffs. The buttock lines sweep up aft instead of running flat, so the hull rows easily with one or two aboard. It will also take a very small outboard, and Devlin advises no more than 2.5 hp or an electric motor since extra power only makes her squat. Plans and a CNC-cut kit are both sold.
A simple stitch and glue skiff that suits a first-time builder. Budget 40 to 80 hours as a rule of thumb, toward the low end from the kit. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Bella 12 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
