McDrift
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A welded aluminum McKenzie-type drift boat from Glen-L Marine, available on one set of plans in 14 ft and 16 ft lengths. The hull is monocoque, so the skin carries the load and most internal framing disappears, and Glen-L provides full-dimension layouts for the side and bottom sheets so nothing has to be cut and fitted by trial.
This one is for a builder who can weld aluminum, or who will hire the welding out. Fit-up and welding of the sheets is the bulk of the job; there is no plywood, epoxy or paint stage to speak of. Budget roughly 100 to 200 hours in the shop for someone with the welding skills. Logged medians show below.
What building a McDrift actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
