Krista-x Rower 24
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 24 ft expedition rowing boat by Sam Devlin, an expanded version of his Fairhaven Flyer 20. It was drawn for a young couple from British Columbia who built the first boat, named Purple Porpoise for the purpleheart used in it, and then rowed the Inside Passage from Vancouver to Prince Rupert. Devlin designs are stitch and glue unless stated otherwise.
The Devlin site offers a build kit through Sam Devlin directly and says plans are to follow; it publishes no dimensions or weights beyond the nominal length. A long, slender rowing hull is light work compared with a cabin boat but wants careful alignment. As a rule of thumb, budget 200 to 400 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Krista-x Rower 24 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
