Oysta 28
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 27 ft 10 in double-ended motorsailer cruiser by Sam Devlin, drawn out of his long affection for the Norwegian fishing troller. Beam is 8 ft 6 in, draft 3 ft 10 in and displacement about 8,600 lb. It sits between the Oysta 25 and Oysta 30 in a family of North Sea styled motorsailers.
The design stops at downloadable study plans. The page says full construction plans were hoped for and are on hold, so anyone wanting to build one should talk to the designer first. A heavy double-ender with rig, engine and cruising interior is a job for an experienced amateur. As a rule of thumb, expect 2,500 to 4,500 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
