Peeper 12
Designed by Sam Devlin
An 11 ft 11 in rowing skiff by Sam Devlin, drawn along the lines of an old duck-hunting skiff with a strong sheer. Stitch and glue plywood, 3 ft 8 in beam, only 4 in of draft, 83 lb, and a maximum load of 425 lb. A wooden oarlock bracket gives two rowing positions so the boat can be trimmed for different loads. The designer describes it as light, responsive and quick enough to be real transportation, and suggests it as a skiff or yacht tender.
Devlin calls it easy to build, and with no rig, engine or interior it is a sound first boat. Budget 60 to 120 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Peeper 12 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
