Fife
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 12 ft stitch-and-glue rowing boat from Glen-L Marine with a wide, rockered flat bottom and multi-chine sides, drawn to be stable enough for people who feel nervous in small boats. The prototype weighed 98 lb glassed, it carries three, and it has watertight stowage under both seats and a skeg to keep it tracking for a novice oarsman.
A good first boat. Full-size patterns, 4 mm sides, no building form. Expect 50 to 100 hours. Glen-L sells stitch-and-glue and fiberglass kits. Real build hours from logs kept here are below.
What building a Fife actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
