Welsford had enough enquiries for a simple open-water sliding seat rowing boat that he drew an extra sheet of plans for Seagull, adding a sturdy sliding seat, extra buoyancy and footrest mountings. She can be built at Seagull's original length or stretched to 5.336 m, at which she will pull two pairs of oars. The drawings cover the seat and track, the outriggers and rowlocks, and suggested oars.
Seagull stretched to 17 ft 6 in for open-water rowing, with a sliding seat option drawn in. Same 4 ft 1 in beam and about 42 kg, so the extra length is all waterline rather than weight.
