Annapolis Wherry
Designed by John C. Harris
A 17 ft 9 in sliding-seat rowing wherry from Chesapeake Light Craft, in production since 1997 with many hundreds built. The LapStitch hull is lapstrake plywood assembled stitch-and-glue style, 38 in wide and about 65 lb, with a 350 lb payload. CLC quotes a 7 knot sprint and 4 to 5 knot cruise, and it copes with chop better than a shell. Kits, full-size plans and classes are all offered.
A beginner project in CLC's grading, with a manual aimed at first-time epoxy users. CLC's figure is about 80 hours: 40 to 50 to assemble the hull and roughly 30 for sanding, paint and varnish. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Annapolis Wherry actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
