Glass Bottom
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 9 ft 6 in underwater viewing boat from Glen-L Marine, a flat-bottomed, round-bowed stitch-and-glue garvey with a glass window in the bottom under a removable bench seat, or built without the window as a roomy, stable little rowing and 2 hp outboard boat. Glen-L publish a hull depth of 18 in.
They put the usual load at 1 to 3 people. The hull is a flat bottom, rounded bow garvey style developed for stitch and glue sheet plywood. For power they specify outboard motors to 2 hp. Simple stitch-and-glue construction, with the rounded bow the only unusual feature. Allow 50 to 100 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Glass Bottom actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
